Maxine Gollaher Allen

Maxine Gollaher Allen, age 92, of Lehi, Utah passed away on April 20th, 2020. She was born on October 18th, 1927 in Tooele, Utah to Louis LeRoy and Vaunita Christina Peterson Gollaher. Maxine graduated from Grantsville High School in 1946. She married and later divorced Shirl R. Allen. She was known by many names such as Macky, Maxi, Mom, Grandma Lehi, and Grammy.

Maxine was the oldest of six children. Survived by Kenneth Gollaher, Robert Gollaher, Deon Foust, and Colleen Yates. Preceded in death by Alice Jensen. She was proud mother of six children. She is survived by her son, Vaughn L. Allen; Daughters, Sharon (Ernie) Prather; and Tonya (James) Grant. Preceded in death by her children Glen Rex Allen, David J. Allen, and Linda VanWagoner. Additionally, she is a beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her loyal neighbors including Ingrid, Julie, the Shelton's, and the Lott Family.

A lifelong seamstress, Maxine was known for her beautiful quilts and many sewing projects. This included the draping for the unveiling of This is the Place Monument and hundreds of quilts for Mothers Without Borders and other organizations. Because of her zeal for crocheting, countless doilies and ornaments were made. She spent many weekends at The Allen Ranch and summers at Strawberry, Utah. Maxine loved western movies and singing to Johnny Cash. She was a strong, determined and a fiercely independent woman and provided support and love for her family. Most importantly, she left behind a whole slew of memories and phrases such as "no news is good news".

A special thanks to Encompass Health, especially Rachel who provided invaluable care to Maxine during the last chapter of her life. A private family graveside service will be held to honor her life on Friday, April 24, 2020 11:00 am at the Lehi City Cemetery (southeast location). In memory of Maxine, please send flowers to your own mother and loved ones, tell them that you love them, and share some dark chocolate orange sticks in her memory.
